Melampo is an Italian brand of men’s fashion that comes from an important industrial past and a long family tradition in the industry that is deeply rooted in the Italian-milanese culture of pret à porter.
Melampo was born in the heart of Milan in 1947 as a family-run factory for hats and has gradually evolved over time by diversifying the production, finally specializing since 1969 in the manufacturing of shirts .
In 2007, the third generation of the family decided to revive the name Melampo, constituting a brand that originates from that generation´s roots, thus giving form to a new concept of vestments called dress-scape.
Forming a dress-scape means considering and examining the apparel from a new point of view, treating it as if it were a photograph, an architecture, a painting or an object, adding to it the quality and potential that come from these worlds : the light and blurring of the photograph, the volume and three-dimensionality of buildings, the synthesis and irony of design, the colors and breakdowns of the painting, and the functionality of objects.
The desire of Melampo is to introduce an eclectic point of view to the garment, that can also be considered a narrative: a dress-up, a tool to tell stories and express oneself.
